First Avenues - Housing Solutions for Families offers housing assistance to homeless families residing in San Francisco shelters or families at risk of losing their housing. The housing assistance includes an assessment of needs and barriers, housing search and financial assistance for a deposit. The program also offers eviction prevention services to low-income families on the verge of losing their housing. This fund is intended as a last resort and families need to have utilized all other back rent resources before accessing First Avenues' Eviction Prevention fund. Also available to qualified individuals are temporary rental subsidies. A Rental Subsidy Pre-Screen Application must be submitted for eligibility to be determined, if approved, individuals will then receive an appointment time for an interview. Eligibility requirements must be met prior to receiving services from all programs.

This Program helps families that are at risk of losing their homes through eviction prevention funding. It also offers direct rental assistance, as well as moving cost help and childcare subsidies. Case managers provide families with needed information and referrals.

The Eviction Assistance Program of Family Service Agency provides resources and early crisis intervention and homelessness prevention services to identified individuals. Additionally, the program allows for immediate access to existing funding and the supportive services needed to ensure that high-risk families retain their housing.

This Program targets homeless families with minor children in San Francisco. HPP’s Housing Program helps clients identify safe affordable housing and adequately prepare to move in. Clients learn about budgeting, preparing a housing resume, credit checks, and meeting with landlords. The Housing Program staff also travels throughout the San Francisco Bay Area to locate landlords willing to rent to clients and establish relationships with the landlords.

Provides low interest loans to low-income occupants in targeted neighborhoods to repair housing problems or to make units accessible for disabled persons. First Time Homebuyer Programs offers housing resale and below-market interest rate or deferred repayment loans to low to moderate income first-time homebuyers. Eligibility: San Francisco resident, low- or moderate-income in targeted neighborhoods for rehabilitation. City wide for seniors and physically disabled. City wide for first-time homebuyers.

The program grants loans to cover back rent grants to families, singles, disabled and elderly living in San Francisco who are being evicted and have lived in their residence for at least one year.

There are many offices across the area that are served by Social Service Caseworkers available to answer questions, provide local, everyday assistance and referrals as necessary. Some of the assistance available includes: REACH (PG&E Assistance), Season of Sharing (Rental Assistance),clothing and furniture vouchers, spiritual counseling, weekly food programs, childcare assistance, rehabilitation services
information/assistance for seasonal assistance such as Infant/Toddler Wee-Ones-Wonder Fair, back-to-school clothing and supplies, and Christmas Toy & Joy Shop.

This organization provides housing resources and advocacy for individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS. Go to their drop-in hours at the address above on Fridays from 1-3pm. Be sure to bring a Picture ID, Letter of Diagnosis and Proof of Income. There they provide housing referrals, deposit assistance, tenant's rights counseling, credit wellness clinic, homeownership counseling, application assistance, peer advocacy and public policy advocacy.
