Below you will find resources related to shelter.
Some of the shelters serve specific populations. It is advisable
to call or visit agency websites to find out about eligibility or
about specific dates and times that services are available.

Hamilton Family Emergency Center:

Emergency overnight shelter services for homeless families
and women seven months pregnant. The program provides: meals,
case management, housing assistance through First Avenues, and a
children’s program. Call 415-292-5228 at 11:00am Monday-Friday to reserve a space for you and your family. In order to obtain the assigned bed, you must arrive at 260 Golden Gate
Ave. at 2pm. You will be asked to bring all documentation that you
have, including IDs for adults, birth certificates for children, Social
Security and MediCal cards for all family members, and income
verification for the family. You will not be turned away for lack of documentation and HFEC does accept undocumented immigrants.

A domestic violence shelter targeting, but not limited to, Asian
refugee women and their children.
Bethel AME Church:

The church offers emergency shelter between December 1st and March
31st. No call-in necessary, but arrive by 5:00 P.M. to receive
a bed for the evening. Capacity: 50 beds for families.
Compass Community Services – Connecting Point:

The organization manages a waitlist for shelter placements in one
of four family shelters in San Francisco. Only pregnant women
and families in need of shelter are eligible for Connecting Point’s
placement services.
La Casa de las Madres:

La Casa de las Madres offers emergency residential shelter to battered
women and their children. The program also provides: counseling,
family-based services and referrals. All services are offered free-of-charge
in English and Spanish.
Missionaries of Charity:

The organization provides shelter to pregnant women with documented
proof of pregnancy. No children over five years old are accepted.
Missionaries of Charity is a clean and sober facility. Call for
an appointment and a personal interview between 8 A.M.-12 noon or
3:30-6 P.M.
Project Homeless Connect:

Every other month Project Homeless Connect provides
a one-stop shop of health and human services for homeless San Franciscans.
Services include medical, mental health, substance abuse, housing,
dental, benefits, legal, free eyeglasses, California ID, food, clothing,
wheelchair repair and more. Check the website for the next scheduled
date.
Providence Shelter:

Provides emergency shelter for single adults and families.
Doors open at 9:30 P.M. and families must be out of the shelter
by 6:30 A.M. Families can go directly to the shelter to obtain
a bed for one night. After the one night, families must access
a referral center for additional nights. Call to find out
what referral centers may be closest.
Raphael House:

The program offers a structured, intensive program directed at resolving
family issues related to homelessness. A small program fee
is necessary. Pregnant women in their ninth month and families

Riley Center Emergency Shelter of St. Vincent de Paul Society:

The program offers a 24-hour crisis line and shelter for battered
women and their children. Women pay sliding scale program
fees. The shelter provides case management, food, shelter,
counseling and advocacy.
